Members and employees of Members Advantage Credit Union had something to buzz about this sunny and windy Friday at the Portage New Members Appreciation Picnic Lunch. This event capped off the “Buzzed about Summer” new members campaign.
The zippy campaign certainly offered something sweet for new members. During the week, anyone who opened a checking or savings account received a free membership (normally $50), BUZZ points for using their debit card, and after 90 days a gift of $100.
Frank Beachnau, MACU president said, “As President of Members Advantage Credit Union, I’m very excited to offer the community so many advantages all wrapped up in one event, “New Member Week” at our Portage location. Not only can you join for free, (a $50 value), when you open a savings and checking account, you receive $100 after 90 days. Add a special loan discount on Friday only and the rollout of our new BUZZ Points reward program this summer for our ATM/Debit card, and you can see that MACU is more about free than fees, offering new members the rewards and services they are looking for and deserve.”
The picnic lunch was held to celebrate both the sweet success of the campaign the new members added to the MACU family. Guests were treated to a casual fare of hot dogs, chips and drinks with casual conversation and a good time served on the side. Members could spin the grand old wheel to win anything from a $25 gift card to two Portage IMAX tickets.
“I’m really happy that they are doing this. It is a great perk of being a member,” MACU member Bonnie Lewis said.
But MACU was serving up more than just classic summertime food. All day prizes and giveaways were awarded and .5% was offered off any auto loan. This event just marked MACU’s continuous commitment to provide the best possible service to their customers and inclusion in the MACU community.

Member Danielle Wilson explained, “I am a MACU member because I can have a joint account with my son, Ryan, while he is at school. They make wiring and handling money easy for us.”
