Portage Township Schools IT Department Employs Student Interns During Summer

Portage Township Schools have employed a group of interns to help with the district’s technology department. The interns are all current Portage High School students.

The PTS IT Internship employs students Jared Bauer, Macy Daniko, Gabrielle Garza, Marilynne Harmon, Charles Jackson, Jaylen Jude, Marcel McCormick, Rogelio Murillo, Spencer Perry, Aaron Reist, Christian Schubert, Emily Valpatic, Isiah Wilusz, and Alexander Wise.

The interns are working under David Lesich, Director of Instructional Technology and Data Services and Michael DePasquale, Director of Innovative Learning.

The interns work five days a week from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on a variety of technology-related projects, including installing projectors, collecting and distributing iPads, and making sure student devices are ready for the upcoming school year. In the upcoming weeks, the interns will be learning how to take apart a computer and put it back together.

The interns will also assist the district with installing new Wi-Fi umbrellas that increase the distance of each building’s signal. Having a Wi-Fi signal that will reach to the sidewalks surrounding the building will allow teachers to have the freedom to take the learning process beyond the classroom.
