PORTAGE, IND. — Portage Township Schools will be hosting its annual Kindergarten Round-Up on March 11 at all eight elementary schools. Families with children who will be five years old as of August 1, 2020 will need to bring their child to Round-Up at their future school from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This important event will allow our parents to finalize their child’s registration for the 2020-2021 school year and sign up for the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment. All families who attend will receive a free “Bright Beginnings” backpack.
Families can begin the registration process online starting February 24 by visiting the PTS website and clicking on the Kindergarten Round-Up link. The process will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Computers will be available at each school for families who need help with the registration process or did not register prior to Round-Up. Families can finalize their child’s registration at Round-Up by presenting the required documents.
Please bring your child’s birth certificate, verified proof of immunizations, your child’s social security number, guardianship papers (if applicable), a copy of the parent or guardian’s drivers license, and two documents showing proof of residency. Acceptable residency documents include a current lease agreement, mortgage papers, NIPSCO bill, water or sewer bill, another bill with your home mailing address, a notarized affidavit of residency, and an Indiana Department of Education form I, II, or III.
Curricular fees may be paid when your child takes the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment at a later date. Families may contact their child’s future school if they have any questions about Kindergarten Round-Up, registration, or the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment. Visit the PTS website at www.portage.k12.in.us and click on the Kindergarten Round-Up link for additional information.
