Portage Township Schools Update, April 5, 2019

Kyle Elementary
Mrs. Mundt's 1st grade class was given a demonstration on how trees grow along with the leaves.

Saylor Elementary
Mrs. Roberson’s 4th grade class did a coding activity with drones today. Students were given specific assignments, to get them acclimated to the coding process. Afterwards, they made their own coding stunts, and the results were pretty cool!

PHS Digital Applications & Responsibility Class
The week before spring break, several students took the opportunity to get Microsoft Word certified. These students are taking the Digital Applications & Responsibility class with business teacher Miss. Melendez and are not only earning dual credit through Ivy Tech, but are also getting the opportunity to earn Microsoft certification. Miss. Melendez is always so excited to take pictures and show off “her kids” that earned their certifications. These students can now list this on their resume and college applications.

PHS Youth Government Day
On Tuesday, April 2 PHS students participated in Youth Government Day. Students were elected by their fellow senior class members last week. Participants job shadowed various city officials, and participated in the evening City Council meeting.
