Aylesworth Elementary
Students at Aylesworth Elementary have been learning how to be mindful in the classroom, on the playground and bus, and even at home. Mrs. Wyatt has been focusing on the five senses with the kids and recently the whole school got to experience mindful tasting. The kids tasted a white chocolate, chocolate, and butterscotch morsel and had to describe the taste and texture using appropriate vocabulary in describing foods. Instead of putting all three morsels in their mouth, they ate each morsel one by one starting with the sense of smell, then looking at the morsel, and then finally letting it melt on their tongue. The students learned that saying something is gross isn't always the aprroriate way of saying you don't like something. The students brainstormed words to describe flavors of food. The kids has a lot of fun and some tasted something new for the very first time!

Myers Elementary
Third graders at Myers Elementary School created models of the layers of the Earth using pudding. They measured, mixed, and made their own treat for their holiday party on Thursday. This was a project-based learning activity that was a culmination of their study of the inner core, outer core, mantle, and crust.
