Kyle Elementary
Istep celebration started with the good old "Kyle" cheer. Next was some of our Kyle teachers performing "Teachers Got Books". Last but not least, the high five tunnel to wish our 3rd-5th gr. good luck on their Istep!
Aylesworth Elementary

Ayelsworth Elementary 1st Graders

Myers Elementary
The Myers Elementary first grade worked a fun filled Dr. Seuss week. They spent time in there classrooms reading a variety of books. On Dr. Seuss's birthday each class took turns going to the other first grade teachers for different Dr. Seuss stories and lessons. In Miss Kate Brenda's class students read One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish and graphing gold fish. In Mrs. Chelsea Sutton's class students listened for rhyming words in Hop on Pop and had to find create words that rhymed with words they found around the room. In Mrs. Diane Zuick's class students listened to Cat in the Hat and wrote about an adventure they would have if they Cat showed up at their house. We ended our day with a guest reader, Mr. Jon Evers!
Saylor Elementary
Miss Leverich's Kindergarten class make Oobleck last week! Oobleck is a non-newtonian fluid that has both the properties of a liquid and a solid. Students made predictions on what property they thought Oobleck would most resemble.
PHS Microsoft Image Academy
Once again two students in the Microsoft Image Academy placed in the top of the State in their certification exams. Congratulations to Christian Schubert who was ranked No. 1 in Microsoft Word and Brett Kozenchik for placing 3rd in PowerPoint.
PHS Students Visit Ivy Tech
Portage High School students had the opportunity to meet with a representative from Ivy Tech. Students were offered on-site admission.
PHS AP Government Class
In preparation for the AP Government test coming up in May, students in Mr. Gonzalez's AP Government classes picked a landmark Supreme Court case to research and present to their classmates focusing in on the Constitutional importance of each case.
PHS Fashion and Textile Foundations Class
Portage High School's Fashion and Textile Foundations Classes are currently creating Cross Body Purses to be sent to Africa. It is documented that girls in Africa miss about six weeks of school per year when they are on their period. In addition to the purse, a donation of just $5.00 can help to supply the products needed to help young girls stay in school. Information can be found at www.sewpowerful.org
