In honor of National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month, the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Indiana and Porter Health System will present “Know the 10 Signs of Alzheimer’s Disease.” This free educational program features information on memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease. “Know the 10 Signs” will be presented on Monday, November 8 from 6 – 7 p.m. at the Portage Township YMCA, 3100 Willowcreek Road in Portage.
This introductory program is designed for anyone who suspects memory loss and /or is interested in learning about it. Those who attend will learn about:
- The basics of memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease
- All that is involved in getting a diagnosis
- Tips for maintaining a healthy brain
Know the 10 Signs provides an understanding of the difference between age-related memory loss and Alzheimer’s and what to do if you or someone you know has signs of the disease. Attendees will view video footage of real people who are living with the early stages of dementia and their families addressing fears and myths associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
