The 6-foot center back was a team captain since his freshman year for Gimnasio Minuto de Dios High School in Tabio, Columbia, while excelling in the classroom, ranking in the Top 5 of his class his senior year.

Reyes was a four-year captain of his club teams, Fortaleza and River Plate, while helping each earn multiple tournament championships in Columbia, including a victory in the National Bogota League (3rd division) final.

Sergio is the son of Edilberto Reyes and Lina Durado and plans to major in mechanical engineering at Purdue Calumet.
