Purdue Calumet to host Open House for Prospective Students on March 28, 2015

PUC-LogoHigh school students, their parents, prospective transfers and others interested in learning more about the Purdue University Calumet experience are invited to attend the university’s Spring Open House at 9 a.m., Saturday, March 28 in Alumni Hall of the Student Union & Library, 2233 173rd St.

Attendees of this free, comprehensive event will gain insights about obtaining an internationally-respected Purdue education at Purdue Calumet’s neighborhood Hammond campus, including the benefits of the university’s distinctive and nationally recognized experiential learning initiative.

“Purdue Calumet is an exciting, thriving place to grow and succeed intellectually and personally,” Purdue Calumet Director of Undergraduate Admissions Eric Felver said. “Our open house is designed to acquaint and, hopefully, excite prospective students and their families about all that Purdue Calumet has to offer.”

Following a university overview, attendees can meet with academic advisors, faculty and other staff members to learn more about baccalaureate and master’s degree programs, Honors College, admission requirements, university affordability, scholarship availability, campus life and housing, career and student support services, athletics and the benefit of experiential learning.

“The open house is geared to first-time college students, transfer students and adult learners to enable them to find out as much as they can about Purdue Calumet and its commitment to academic excellence and student success,” Felver said.

Purdue University Calumet is a comprehensive, regional institution of some 9,500 students. It has been collaborating the past year with nearby Purdue University North Central of Westville to unify into the emerging Purdue University Northwest.

Graduates earn Purdue degrees
Prospective students of Purdue Calumet and eventually Purdue Northwest can pursue a Purdue University degree at the baccalaureate and/or master’s levels. Distinctive to the Purdue education offered at Purdue Calumet is experiential learning through discovery and engagement that occurs via such real world, hands-on opportunities as internships, scholarly research, design projects, service learning, cultural immersion and cooperative education.

Purdue Calumet is located three miles east of the Indiana-Illinois state line off Interstate 80/94, one-third mile north on Indianapolis Boulevard to 173rd Street and three blocks east. To access free parking at the Student Union & Library, proceed east on 173rd Street from Indianapolis Boulevard to the traffic light and turn left/north into the parking lot.
