Two leaders are teaming together in "Building the Kingdom of God." This is the theme at Queen of All Saints Catholic School for the 2015-2016 school year. The school welcomes Marie Arter as principal and Kim Gondeck in the newly created role of vice principal.
Arter has just returned from Abraq Khaitan, Kuwait, where she served as elementary principal for American Baccalaureate School. She has been principal of elementary schools in Indiana and Ohio, taught children in grades fifth through eighth, and directed high school curriculum at Toledo Catholic Central High School. She was named Best Principal in Toledo in 2002.
Gondeck is an eight-year veteran QAS teacher. She has been teaching more than 10 years and has taught students in preschool through high school, serving in parochial and public schools.
QAS is built on a foundation of Gospel living. It is located at 1715 East Barker Avenue. Its mission is to develop and empower the whole person to experience Christ as the center of his/her life. Its goal is to be an exemplary academic school with a strong Catholic identity. The faculty and staff's desire is to teach with faith, integrity, and passion every moment to build the leaders of tomorrow. They work in partnership with parents to provide excellent Catholic faith formation, integrated into strong academic instruction, social growth, and personal responsibility.
"Queen of All Saints is opening our doors to you and your children," invites Arter.
Potential parents and students are invited to visit QAS school from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 17 for a tour and to enroll. Please report to the office.
QAS staff is hosting Parent Nights to meet with parents in grade-specific gatherings.
"(This) will allow for parents to get to know the new team, hear our plans, and share their hopes and dreams for QAS," Arter explains.
Parent Nights begin at 6 p.m. in the Courtyard behind the rectory or moved into the cafeteria depending upon the weather. Parents who have more than one child in the school may attend one night. If parents cannot make the assigned evening, they may attend any. Meetings are:
Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten parents - Aug. 4
First- and second-grade parents - Aug. 5
Third- and fourth-grade parents - Aug. 11
Fifth- and sixth-grade parents - Aug. 12
Seventh- and eighth-grade parents - Aug. 13
Eighth graders are asked to attend a leadership meeting Aug. 12 from 10 a.m. to noon.
"This will provide an opportunity to plan for ways to serve the school community during their final year at QAS," Arter says.
The school serves 215 students from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds in grades kindergarten through eighth. Enrollment is open for the 2015-2016 school year, which begins Aug. 18. For more information, call the school at 219-872-4420.
