READ La Porte County, Inc. Announces 2015 Tutor Training Dates

READ_La_Porte_County__Inc__Announces_201-1READ La Porte County, Inc. is currently accepting applications from those wishing to join its team of tutors in 2015. Applicants need not have prior teaching or tutoring experience.

READ's mission is to increase reading, math, English and digital literacy skills in the community through tutoring and through advocacy. The organization provides free tutoring to children and adults at the library, in local schools and at the Community Corrections Center.

To help prepare tutors for their roles, READ has four different events scheduled for the new year. An initial Tutor Roundtable will take place on Saturday, January 17, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tutor Trainings will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Finally, an additional Tutor Roundtable is scheduled for Friday, November 13, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

All current and potential tutors are invited to attend these free training sessions, which will take place at the Main Branch of the La Porte County Public Library.
