REP: Alan Manns

REP-Alan-MannsNorthwest Indiana is a growing area of the country that welcomes many families that make their way to us. And with the families come the homes in which they must reside. So who comes in to play when it's time to buy or sell a home? There are multiple businesses in the area, but one stands out in particular. Realty Executives Premier, located in downtown Valparaiso, gives home buyers and sellers the people, experience and knowledge to get the job done right on the first try.

The 10th installment on our list for the Really Excellent People series is Alan Manns.

"I have a home office so I do most of my work from there. I send new listing to clients, I deal with title companies, and there is always something new and different to deal with," Manns said.

What got Manns into real estate was previous experiences with real estate transactions that he felt he could improve upon. If you want something done right, do it yourself comes into play here.

"I've always been interested in real estate so I got my license and I've done well ever since," Manns said.

Manns came to Realty Executives Premier in December 2013. He was working for another local company but then came to Realty Executives after some restructuring took place. He actually had worked with Realty Executives years before, so he was familiar with the business and knew the owner, Mike Tezak.

"I like working here. It's a nice office and the people are friendly and I like the flexibility that it affords me," Manns said. "I love selling houses that people love; not just like. I love to see smiles on my clients' faces on the day of closing."

In the free time that Manns gets with the flexibility of his job, Manns likes to swim, workout, and shop.

When Manns first got his license in 2006, he learned things with in-class training and on the job. When he takes clients to look at a home and asks them to rate it on a scale from 1 to 10. He noted that the numbers never match if it's a couple or family and each person rates it individually. If the numbers are low then he knows that they aren't at the right house. If the numbers are high, then he knows that they are on the right track.

"That's my little way of figuring out how to make my clients happy," Manns explained.

Sometimes it takes the right person at the right time to get decisions made. Manns said that he often has clients choose him as their real estate agent because he was able to get them off the fence when it came to whether they wanted to buy a home or not.

"Present your house in a way that will get your house to sell on the market and not sit on the market," Manns said. "So I help people stage their homes. It's important to me and I am honest with people. I'll tell them that this needs to go, this needs to be painted, this looks great, etc."

He also offers a free 13-month home warranty to clients that list with him. He said homes with home warranties give buyers peace of mind so that is an extra boost to the seller.
