Representatives of Identity Events Speak to Portage Exchange Club

Portage-Exchange-Identity-Events-1The Portage Exchange Club welcomed guest speakers Missy Evans and Letitia Galey to a recent breakfast meeting. Evans and Galey are representatives of Identity Events, a nonprofit organization created by parents, educators, college students and other concerned adults who want to influence kids in positive ways.

Identity Events (IE) produces events that provide a safe place for young people to have fun while examining important issues. According to the organization’s website, “Our events will empower youth to believe in their own personal significance, as God created them. We aspire to provide instructive and motivational experiences that will provide physical, emotional and spiritual health.”

Another aspect of IE is community service. “We’ll be helping at the community Thanksgiving Dinner,” Evans said. Kids can sign up to help. They feel valuable and realize their own worth by doing something for someone else.”

Portage-Exchange-Identity-Events-2In order to support their projects, IE is hosting a fundraiser at Valparaiso’s Old Town Banquet Hall on October 19. Attendees can enjoy an excellent dinner and an evening of comedy with Keith Deltano. Tickets are $30.00 each

The following day, Saturday, October 20, IE is hosting a youth event: “Hollywood’s Missing Link.” This will be held at the Portage High School Auditorium with special guest speaker actor Jason Fredrick and comedian Keith Deltano. Tickets are $10.00 each.

There are two sessions: third through sixth graders can attend from 11 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. and seventh through twelfth grade from 6 through 10 p.m.

Portage-Exchange-Identity-Events-3Both sessions will include fun, food—such as hot dogs and pizza—and excitement, including friendly competitions. For further information or to order tickets for either the October 19 or October 20 event, please go to the website www.ieidentityevents.com.
