Safety Village classes for kids

HAMMOND, IN – Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr., Hammond Parks & Recreation and the Hammond Police Department proud to announce the return of Safety Village Classes for children in Hammond’s miniature village in Windrich Park behind the Hammond Civic Center, 5825 S. Sohl Avenue.  The classes are FREE and will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. from June 15 until August 7.  Classes are open to all Lake County children.  Classes will be taught by officers from the Hammond Police Department and feature neighborhood and traffic safety along with videos on bicycle safety.  A limited number of bicycles and pedal cars are available for anyone who wishes to participate or participants may use their own bicycles.  For larger groups or groups that may need special accommodations, please contact the Hammond Police Traffic Division at 219-852-2911.
