Shirley Heinze Land Trust Hosts Volunteer Workday at Meadowbrook Nature Preserve

Shirley-Heinze-Volunteer-DayOn Saturday, February 8, 2014, the Shirley Heinze Land Trust will host a volunteer workday at Meadowbrook Nature Preserve in Valparaiso from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Warm up on this cold winter day by feeding a bonfire with already cut woody invasive shrubs.

Shirley Heinze Land Trust acquired this property one year ago and we have begun an intensive project to remove the dense shrub layer of exotic invasive species and begin reforestation efforts. We will cook lunch (we will provide) over the fire.

Please RSVP jerdelac@heinzetrust.org if you wish to attend, so we can plan accordingly. Directions to Site: from US Hwy 6, take Meridian Rd. South to CR 700 N. Turn right on 700 N and travel approximately 1 mile. Meadowbrook Conservation Center and Preserve will be on your right (north) side. Look for the large green sign. From west of IN 149: take Hwy 149 to CR 700 N. Travel east on 700 N. approximately 2 miles. Meadowbrook Conservation Center and Preserve will be on your left (north) side.
