Sophia Foster Signs With Valpo Volleyball Program

A local prep star will stay close to home, as Valpo volleyball head coach Carin Avery announced today that Sophia Foster, a 5-7 outside hitter from Kouts H.S., has signed with Valpo and will join the Beacon program as a freshman for the 2022 season.

Foster stood out for the Fillies this past fall as Kouts went undefeated in the Porter County Conference and won its first regional title in program history, advancing to semi-state. Foster was a First Team All-State honoree in 2021 and earned All-Area honors, as well as being named conference MVP. She registered 528 kills, tied for most in the state in Class 1A and eighth-most among all classes, and earned a spot on the Indiana All-Star Team.

Foster earned Second Team All-State honors in 2020 and was an All-Conference selection, tallying 301 kills to help the Fillies earn their first sectional championship in 14 years and advance to the regional finals. Foster currently plays her club volleyball for KeAloha Volleyball Club, under the direction of former Valpo assistant coach Craig Cromwell.

Foster is the fourth newcomer to the Valpo volleyball program for the 2022 season, joining fellow rookies Claire Campbell and Emma Hickey and Winthrop transfer Olivia Blackketter.
