South Central 8th grader Maggie Thomas, 10th grader RJ Snyder, and 12th grader Ben Denecho have been selected Students of the Month for December.
Maggie Thomas is the daughter of Russell and Deanna Thomas of Michigan City. She was selected by math teacher Melissa Gilchrist, who stated that Maggie is a great student in class. She volunteers to go to the board to do problems, and Maggie will always take the time to explain something to another student who is having trouble understanding.
RJ Snyder is the son of Eric Snyder and Stacey Cassady, both of Hanna. He was selected by English teacher Cortny Barnes. Mrs. Barnes stated that RJ is incredibly positive. He always has something inspirational to add to class discussions and goes out of his way to help students in need.
Ben Denecho is the son of Frank and Kathy Denecho of Union Mills. He was selected by industrial technology teacher Dan Siford, who said that Ben is willing to be open to new ideas and try anything that comes up.
The Student of the Month program recognizes young people at South Central who are role models, leaders, and dedicated and conscientious students. Our selected students are motivated leaders and role models for the school and community, set a positive example by word, deed, and appearance, have a positive attitude, and set a positive example for academic achievement in classroom studies.
