South Shore Dance Alliance (SSDA) is holding auditions for its upcoming 5-week Summer Dance Intensive program on Saturday, April 23 and Saturday, April 30, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the SSDA studios at South Shore Centre for the Arts, 665 S. Lake St. in Gary’s Miller neighborhood. The summer dance training program also serves as a springboard for placement into the SSDA pre-professional performance company which performs year-round at numerous NW Indiana and Chicagoland venues.
The SSDA 2011 Summer Dance Intensive program runs July 5 through August 6, 12 noon–6:30 p.m. weekdays at the SSDA studios and includes beginning and intermediate/advanced tracks in ballet, modern, jazz/funk, hiphop, and tap for ages 10 and up. The summer program will feature SSDA’s own award-winning faculty as well as guest faculty from Chicago and New York City. A limited number of full and partial tuition scholarships are available for the summer program.
All participants new to the SSDA summer intensive program as well as all dancers requesting scholarship assistance must audition. Pre-registration is required for auditions and must be completed by 12:30 p.m. day of auditions. Auditions begin promptly at 1 p.m. for ages 10-13 and 2 p.m. for ages 14 and above. There is a $20 audition fee that can be applied to the summer workshop tuition. Audition classes will include ballet, jazz/funk, and modern.
