Strack & Van Til is celebrating its birthday this month! Instead of receiving presents like a typical birthday warrants, this local favorite chose to shake things up by giving gifts away.
The 92nd anniversary of the area’s cornerstone grocery store is important, not only for the company, but for all their loyalty rewards customers who have a chance to win some very surprising giveaways! Excitement is well underway this October for all their loyal customers.
Renee Thometz, Marketing Manager for Strack & Van Til, said, “if you use your reward account, you’re qualified to win the prize for that week.” After a few months of planning, Thometz and the team decided celebrating with customers is the obvious choice as they are the reason the grocery store has thrived for so long. “We wouldn’t be here today without our community of loyal guests. This is our way of saying thank you,” said Thometz.
Two winners per week are selected from the random drawing. Giveaways include four 65” LG TVs, an Apple Watch Series 5, a Yeti Backflip 24 SoftCooler, a Yeti Tundra 35 Hard Cooler, and a 22-inch Traeger Pellet Grill! Prizes range from an average retail value of $250 to $599.
The first week of October’s Anniversary Sale started with an inventive playful way to commemorate the 92nd anniversary. “A lot of our items were 92 cents, or they ended in 92 cents, which was kind of fun,” said Thometz. “We’re incorporating our fun contests with all of our other awesome sales we have weekly.”
Ernie Strack and Nick Van Til founded the company in 1959 with the hopeful ambition of giving customers more fulfilling shopping experiences. Combining their separate grocery stores, they established the very first Strack & Van Til location in Highland and are now a staple market in Northwest Indiana and Illinois.
