Sunday is Coming

Sunday-is-Coming-01Often times on a Thursday morning I make a Facebook post that says, "It's only Thursday, but Sunday is coming." Today, that quote seems a bit shallow - Today I think about Rich Wherry and the funeral for him at 6pm.

"Sunday is coming" just doesn't seem to be enough. I think about the Martinez family and the funeral for Papa Joe, also later today. "Sunday is coming" doesn't seem enough. Today, I think about 9/11 and "Sunday is coming" just doesn't seem enough. But...

This I also know, Sunday is coming! and with it, a new day, and a new reminder that death doesn't win.

I'm reminded that in my belief, there is Life after death, there is Light that chases away the darkness, there is Good that is better than evil. We don't have to wait until we die for true life. Turn toward it while we still have breath in us. Turn toward forgiveness, turn toward something bigger than our own little selves, turn toward peace in our relationships today. Maybe it all starts with a simple whisper of "I'm sorry."

I live for Sunday's because I'm reminded that we live in a broken world, but even so...I believe in a God of faith, hope, and love. May that love shine brightly even in the grief of today.
