Surf Internet to Celebrate Multi-Gig Service in La Porte with Ribbon Cutting

Surf InternetSM is unveiling multi-gig fiber-optic internet service for the City of La Porte and celebrating with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, May 3. The event will take place from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. CDT at Surf’s offices located at 1705 State Street in La Porte.

Remarks by La Porte Mayor Tom Dermody, La Porte Economic Advancement Partnership (LEAP) and Surf representatives will take place at 4:30 p.m., with a ribbon cutting to follow. Attendees who sign up for Surf’s new 2 Gig service at the event will receive priority access and expedited installation. Community members wishing to attend are encouraged to RSVP through the Events link on the LEAP website, www.laportepartnership.com.

Surf Internet first announced plans to bring multi-gig speeds to La Porte last December, noting at the time that it would be Surf’s first ever multi-gig community in Indiana. With final network upgrades now complete, the company will offer 2 Gig service to La Porte customers beginning May 3.

“Surf has enjoyed a 20-year history of positive partnerships with city and county officials, the La Porte Economic Advancement Partnership, and the La Porte County Rural Broadband Task Force,” said Surf Chief Operating Officer Deborah Crawford. “We are thrilled to be investing in this market-wide upgrade so that all La Porte residents have the opportunity to take advantage of higher speeds and continue to transform their community.”
