In 2002, The Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ remodeled the Catherine Kasper Home-- originally a retirement facility for Sisters. Since then, the building located in Donaldson, Ind. has been known as the Catherine Kasper Life Center. The Catherine Kasper Life Center is a faith-based community providing a wide range of care services.
The campus overlooks Lake Galbraith and is divided into two residential options. The first, Catherine Kasper Home is an 82-bed non-profit care facility offering skilled nursing care with a holistic approach. The campus also features the Maria Center apartments for independent living. Tiffany Hardy is the Admissions/Marketing and Insurance Case Manager of the short-term rehabilitation and long-term care facility. “We pride ourselves on maintaining a high quality of life for our residents,” said Hardy.
The Catherine Kasper Live Center’s mission is inspired by the presence of God and God’s care for all. The Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ and the Catherine Kasper Life Center aim to form a community for their residents and coworkers in which all persons are equally listened to, cared for, appreciated, and respected.
To achieve that goal, the Cather Kasper Home has dedicated coworkers ministering to several different types of private living quarters: Medicare/Skilled Nursing Facility, Nursing Facility, and Non-Skilled Nursing Facility rooms. The facility also has a separate designated hospice room for those at the end of their life.
For those interested in residence at the Catherine Kasper Home, they will be happy to know that every room at Catherine Kasper Home includes the following, at no extra charge: Pastoral Care, Dietary Services, Activity Services, Art Classes, Social Services, Environmental Services, Personal Laundry Services, Cable TV Service, and Mobile Care. In addition, Intergenerational programs are offered such as musical programs, and much more.
Being a religious organization, the Catherine Kasper Home prioritizes its faith above all else.
“A faith-based community allows us to not only focus on the physical wellbeing of our residents, but also the spiritual. This treats the person which helps the resident heal and prosper. The presence of God gives our residents strength,” said Hardy.
In maintaining practice as a faith-based organization, Hardy sees many residents reaping the benefits of choosing the Catherine Kasper Life Center.
“It is beneficial for our residents because there are opportunities to practice the religion of the choice and connect with God on a daily basis. We have a chaplain that is available for our residents and families when having a difficult time or even on a daily basis,” said Hardy. “Residents that choose Catherine Kasper Life Center flourish in this environment with lots of opportunity, beautiful and serene setting, excellent rehabilitation and a continuum of care available.”
