The Thomas Jefferson Middle School science olympiad team has won the state championship.
TJMS earned several No. 1 rankings in the Division B state competition. Categories in which they finished first were boomilever, disease detectives, dynamic planet, entemology, experimental design, helicopters, meteorology, road scholar, robo-cross, solar system, sounds of music and wheeled vehicle.
The team tallied a score of 95 (lower score wins), which was 12 points better than second place Wilbur Wright Middle School. In all, TJ finished first in 12 of 23 events.
The national tournament is May 17 at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
