TJ-vs-BF Football Recap (A & B Games, with Photos & Videos)

The 8th grade football team ended the season on a positive note by thrashing TJ 28-6. Trent Fortson led the offense with 90 yards rushing including touchdown runs of 5 and 54 yards. Trent also threw a 26 yard touchdown pass to Mark Johnson. Angelo Madrigal rushed for 66 yards and threw a 28 yard touchdown pass to Nick Greco. Jacob Gholston did a great job at quarterback leading the offense in the rout.

Caleb Dawson was 4 for 4 on extra point kicks. The defense was led in tackles by Taylor Bezotte, Caleb Dawson, and Michael Krutz. TJ drives were ended twice by Mark Johnson interceptions and on fumble recoveries by Matt Lunghofer and Nick Greco. Congratulations!

The B football team finished its season on Monday afternoon with a solid 28-6 victory over cross-town rival TJ. The win gave the team a 7-1 record for the season. Steve Massa led the way, scoring two touchdowns on runs of 96 and 41 yards, and rushing for a total of 176 yards. Justin Osburn and Collin Vinyard each added a touchdown, and Andrew Lehnen added two two-point conversions to finish the scoring for BF.

The offense finished with a total of 296 yards on the ground, with Osburn rushing for 55 yards and Lehnen adding 48 yards. Vinyard and Brendan Tanner each gained positive yardage to add to the very impressive rushing total. Colin Ahearn completed the only pass he attempted on the night, hitting Andrew Lehnen for 37 yards and a huge first down. After giving up a touchdown on the first drive of the game, the defense settled in and stopped TJ with some great gang tackles and some equally impressive open field tackles. Michael Girman led the defense with six tackles. Other tackle leaders included Ian Jones, Justin Osburn, Fox Arnold, and Colin Ahearn. Osburn accounted for the only turnover of the game with an interception at the one-yard line to stop a potential game-tying TJ scoring drive and set up Massa’s 96-yard touchdown run.

The coaches would like to congratulate the team on an impressive victory and a fantastic season. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication.
