From delivery driver to Director of Business Development: Carol Mittman’s story of success at Domino’s Pizza
In 1992, Carol Mittman took a job as a delivery driver for Domino’s Pizza while completing a bachelor’s degree. 30 years later, Mittman manages 25 Domino’s Pizza locations as the director of business development. Her positive attitude and management style has allowed her to inspire team members from all over the area.
“Back in 1992, I was going to college in Chicago and I needed to make extra money. My brother was a manager at Domino's, and he told me that the money was great as a driver. I got a job there and I was a delivery driver while I went to college until I got my bachelor's degree,” Mittman said.
Midwest Express Clinic opens six clinics in 2021, with plans for seven more in 2022
High-quality, affordable, and convenient healthcare in the Region became a lot more accessible in 2021, as Midwest Express Clinic (MEC) opened six new clinics throughout the Chicagoland area, including three in Northwest Indiana: Portage, Cedar Lake, and Griffith. With these new additions, Midwest Express Clinic’s network now crosses through nine different Northwest Indiana communities and over 20 throughout Chicagoland – with more still to come.
2022 marks Midwest Express Clinic’s 10 year anniversary, and 10 years of fulfilling their mission to provide “extraordinary healthcare with heart” – treating the person, not just the ailment. McColly School of Real Estate offers flexible programming to aspiring realtors, current brokers, and more
Since its founding in the ‘80s, McColly School of Real Estate has granted students access to education taught by active real estate agents, including McColly’s Director of Education, Tim McColly. As active workers in the field, Director of Marketing and Technology Monica Decker feels they have the best pool of knowledge available to share with students.
“They can convey real-life examples of situations they come across with transactions or the home buying and selling process,” Decker said.
Lake County IN Economic Alliance celebrates investors and welcomes next year of development at its Eighth Annual Investors’ Meeting
The Lake County IN Economic Alliance (LCEA) celebrated another year of success during its eighth annual investors' meeting at Innsbrook Country Club. The venue was full of camaraderie as old and new friends were able to reconnect with each other.
Each year, LCEA invites investors and friends to an annual meeting in which attendees learn about the overall impact the alliance has had since its last meeting. The gathering also acts as a networking event for local businesses and investors to get to know each other.
Korellis hosts Annual Safety Fest to keep employees protected on the job
Knowing how to stay safe on the job is just as important as the job itself. To help stress the importance of staying safe at work, Korellis hosted its annual Safety Fest on Wednesday, April 6 to help employees stay on top of the game.
The Safety Fest consisted of seven different classes over the course of the day. Each class touched on a different topic that employees encounter at work, such as securing a harness or working with equipment and ladders. The event served as a refresher on important safety precautions, as well as showcasing new tips and tricks to take into consideration for upcoming projects.

Gov. Eric Holcomb, Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority, and South Shore Line officially break ground on Double Track Project
On Monday, June 20, state officials including Governor Eric Holcomb broke ground on the transformative $649 million South Shore Double Track Project in Michigan City. Construction is now underway on a second main line stretching between the La Porte county community and Gary that can cut more than 30 minutes off a trip from Michigan City and Chicago.
Other officials and South Shore representatives accompanied Holcomb, including U.S. Senator Todd Young, U.S. Representative Frank J. Mrvan, South Shore Line President Michael Noland, and many others. The Double Track Project should see average commutes to Chicago shrink to about one hour, and includes four new bridges, eight new platforms, and 16.9 total miles of track.

For more than 20 years, Jones has worked with youth in the community, so she has a well-developed perspective cultivated through decades of hands-on experience. Although her position at Big Shoulders Fund is a more recent development, her role as director of community partnerships & engagement has opened new doors to further drive her efforts to serve the community.
