No matter the time of year, the Region always brings a wide variety of new, innovative events and activities to help bring communities together. From concerts to parades and from races to parties, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
The year 2024 was no different, and we were extremely excited to capture all of the joy, excitement, and fun that was available to the community. Entirely student-run, the show is an annual VHS staple where students of all talents perform on stage in a variety of creative musical and theatrical acts.
Winamac Old Auto Club and Team Chevy team up to entertain community with car show
The Winamac Old Auto Club, the oldest car club in Indiana, teamed up with Team Chevrolet of Valparaiso to host its 74th annual car show this Saturday on the car dealership’s lot. This show comes as part of a series of shows across the Region.
The Winamac Old Auto Club brings car enthusiasts throughout Northwest Indiana together with cars ranging from 100 years old to more modern models. The group places a big emphasis on car maintenance, restoration, and community. For Team Chevy, inviting the community to the dealership for the car show is more than enough reason to host.

Whether it's the 4th of July weekend or just a day you’re playing hooky from work, make sure you make a splash this summer while in the Region. Summers in the Region are always sure to please. You can check out the Hometown Jam concert, Festival of the Lakes, Pierogi Fest, a summer farmer’s market, or a local patio hangout, but nothing says summer like the local beaches that Northwest Indiana has to offer.
Associated Pediatricians celebrates National Dairy Month with Dairy Day Event
The cows came home to Associated Pediatricians on Sunday, June 23 to celebrate Dairy Day as a part of National Dairy Month. Children and their families gathered at the Valparaiso office for a fun afternoon full of sweet treats and exciting surprises from some four legged farm friends.
Porter County Community Foundation hosts Symphony Under The Stars summer concert
The Valparaiso community was treated to another week of delightful music at Central Park Plaza. Many gathered together as the Porter County Community Foundation (PCCF) presented, Symphony Under The Stars, featuring the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra on Wednesday, July 31.
“The PCCF has hosted this annual event since 2014,” said Jeri Pat Gabbert, executive vice president and chief philanthropic officer of the PCCF. “We’re thrilled to collaborate with the Northwest Indiana Symphony and offer the opportunity for the community to come together.”

As the summer season comes to a close, The Lakes of Valparaiso makes sure that they can put together one last special pool event for their residents. More specifically, this celebration is one for all the furry friends who live in the community. Weiss Entities hosted the annual Puppy Plunge event on Friday, September 6. Residents were able to bring their dogs down to the pool area to swim, splash, and make new friends.
Valparaiso University athletes connect with fans at McAfee Animal Hospital Signing Event
Valparaiso University men’s basketball players Cooper Schwieger and Joe Vick made a special appearance at McAfee Animal Hospital, bringing together fans, families, and pets for a unique community event. The gathering was more than just an autograph session, it was a celebration of the long standing relationship between Valpo Athletics and the McAfee Animal Hospital.
Porter County Government hosts Memorial Opera House Rededication Ceremony
After a 20-week long closure, Memorial Opera House is officially back. The Porter County Government invited the community for a rededication ceremony to recognize the new state of the building on Friday, September 13.
The program opened with the American Legion presenting the colors, playing taps and doing a multi-gun salute. Everyone was invited inside the renovated opera house following the introduction.
