TEDx Makes Northwest Indiana Debut at County Line Orchard

On Thursday, November 13, 2014, a group of young leaders in Northwest Indiana hosted a special TEDx event at County Line Orchard, featuring speakers Blair Milo, Bob Bouwer, Brian Wesbury, Norma Williams, and Nathan Colwell to get audience members to think outside the box and hear their Big Ideas and to see the world a little differently.

Air Show Returning to Marquette Park in 2015

Marquette Park will host its first air show since getting a $30 million makeover.

The Gary air show is returning to Marquette Park in July of 2015, Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson announced at a press conference at the Marquette Pavilion yesterday. The city is partnering with business at the Gary/Chicago International Airport to produce the event.

Mayor Wants To Move Hammond City Hall Downtown

Hammond City Hall should be re-located downtown, and the city may have to find creative ways to make that happen.

“If we show that we have confidence in downtown, than business owners will see that as an example and be more likely to move there themselves,” said Mayor Thomas McDermott, Jr. “Downtown is where the white-collar jobs are. It should be a place where people come to work and then stay in the area for a bite to eat and a drink.”

State and local dignitaries, community leaders, NIPSCO staff, and award honorees were among the estimated 200 guests attending the 2014 NIPSCO Luminary Awards event on Thursday evening. Hosted by NIPSCO, the gala was held at their Merrillville headquarters.

Crossroads Regional Chamber Looking to #RockTheRegion this Fall

The Crossroads Regional Chamber of Commerce is looking to #RocktheRegion this fall with their annual membership drive!

Each year, the chamber hosts a campaign with the goal of increasing their membership and voice in Northwest Indiana. This year's #RocktheRegion campaign came as an idea that was initiated by chamber member Barb Young, owner of Barbara Jean's Gifts & Gourmet, who used the phrase on a Facebook post.

Emerging Leaders Gather to Rally Support for South Shore Line Expansion

Over 300 people gathered at Avalon Manor on Monday night for “Laying Tracks for the Future”, an event presented by the Emerging Leaders Network. Organizers used the event to call for action on the proposed expansion of a rail line from Hammond to Dyer also known as the South Shore Line’s West Lake Corridor.
