Turkey Trot at The Portage Township YMCA – Race for All Ages

Lose those calories before you even eat them at the Portage Township YMCA’s 17th Annual Turkey Trot. This 4-mile, professionally-timed, competitive run is paired with a non-competitive 5K walk/run and a free 1K Kids Fun Run. The walking and running courses will start and finish at the Portage Township YMCA Thanksgiving morning, November 23, 2017. NOT A RUNNER? Don’t worry, we’re here for you! The tested and proven Turkey Trot Training Group kicks off this Saturday, October 7th, 8am, at the Portage Township Y for non-runners or those who have not ran in a while. This program is just $15 for 7-weeks of couch-to-course training and participants may register online or in-person. Questions about the training program? Contact Nicolette Huber at 219-406-6705 or at Hubbn5@hotmail.com.

Detailed information and course map can be found at www.ymcaofportage.org. Proceeds from the Turkey Trot will go toward the Portage Township YMCA’s Annual Campaign which provides financial assistance for children and families that are not able to afford programs and services at the Y. Fun Zone child watch will be available to participants, but space is limited and pre-registration is required.

Participants can register at www.ymcaofportage.org and download a registration form or register on-line at the same website. Registrants who wish to receive a commemorative long-sleeve performance t-shirt must register no later than November 6th. Registration is open now and will run through the morning of race day. Late race registration and check-in begins at 7am. Awards will be presented after the race for the 4-mile runners broken down by gender & age.

“This event is important for so many reasons,” said Marketing Director, Erin Robles. “It provides an opportunity for people of all ages to get out and exercise on a festive day. And everyone who participates is supporting our cause to enable families and individuals in need to participate in youth and wellness services.”
