Unilever Helps Boost the Confidence of Duneland Club Members

UnileverAs one of Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County’s new corporate partners, Unilever committed the time and volunteer service of employee Elizabeth Scharp to provide the Dove Self-Esteem Project to female Club members at the Duneland Unit. The Dove Self-Esteem Project’s purpose is to start conversations with young and teen girls about confidence. The Project includes topics of discussion such as: teasing and bullying, boosting self-esteem, friends and relationships, growing up and body image, and the role media plays on a young girl’s image and feelings about oneself.

“This workshop came at a great time for our Club members,” stated Joe Juarez, Unit Director of Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County’s Duneland Unit. “Our organization implements a national program titled SMART Girls which we operate on a weekly basis. The Dove Self-Esteem Project fits into the curriculum of our SMART Girls program nicely, emphasizing all of the topics that we cover in this national prevention program. We are grateful that Ms. Scharp from Unilever took time to provide this workshop to our girls. When people in the community, outside of our professional staff, come and talk to our members – it just reiterates to them that people really do care about their successful futures.”
