United Way of St. Joseph Country awards grant to support South Bend Community School Corporation Teachers and Students

The South Bend Education Foundation has been awarded a $10,000 grant from United Way of St. Joseph County. The grant will support the Foundation’s Teacher Wish List and Teacher Store initiatives. Both efforts provide support for teachers through funding of needed classroom supplies that directly impact student learning.

We are so grateful to receive this amazing support from our friends at United Way of St. Joseph County,” said South Bend Education Foundation Operations Manager Charlotte Walterhouse. “We are happy to provide basic classroom supplies to the dedicated teachers of the South Bend Community School Corporation. The supplies directly impact students and help provide them with the best learning environment possible.”

The Teacher Wish List is an application-based program, where teachers can apply for mini grants up to $300 to support classroom needs.

The Teacher Store is a room stocked with typical classroom supplies, which teachers may pick up free of charge. While under construction this year, the new Teacher Store will open for the 2025-26 school year.

The South Bend Education Foundation is a non-profit 501(C)3 organization that is dedicated to enriching the learning experiences for students and teachers of the South Bend Community School Corporation. More information about the Foundation is available at www.edfo.org.
