Valparaiso Rotary Issues 1st $10,000 Service Above Self Scholarship

The Valparaiso Rotary Foundation awarded 16 Scholarships to High School Seniors in 2023. Rotary has been developing their scholarship program for the past several years and this year was able to award over $27,000 in Scholarships to local students.

One new scholarship awarded this year was the Barb and Tim Regnitz Service Above Self $10,000 Scholarship which was awarded to one high school Senior. This year the recipient was Aiden Cole, a senior from Valparaiso High School. This scholarship is based on an individual’s service to the community. Aiden was recognized for his work done with kids in the Special Olympics.

Other scholarship recipients are: Ava Brannon From Valparaiso High School, Desiree Hall from Kouts High School, Mackenzie Jones from Valparaiso High School, Lauryn Koedyker from Kouts High School, Victoria Allen from Andrean High School, Colin Walworth from Valparaiso High School, Kaitlynn Whitaker from Morgan Township High School, Abby Sabella from Valparaiso High School, Abby Krouse from Culver Academies, Olivia Kobitz from Morgan Township High School, Connor McCall from Valparaiso High School, Caleb Acker from Wheeler High School, Xander Bryan from Morgan Township High School, Audrey Smith from Valparaiso High School, Maile Bolen from Valparaiso High School, and Lily O’Shea, a Senior at Indiana University Bloomington.

The Scholarship Committee chose these students from many applications, not only on their academic achievements, but also for how they exemplify the Rotary Vision “Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.
