Vera Bradley Bingo Fundraises For Local Senior Living Centers

“Bingo!” was the lively phrase that fueled the activity at Rittenhouse Village in Portage on Saturday afternoon.

Residents of Rittenhouse and people of the community were welcomed to participate in the Vera Bradley Bingo event on Saturday. Tickets were available to be purchased both before the event and at the door. Prices were as listed: $15 per Advanced Ticket for Seniors 65+, $20 per Advanced Ticket, and $25 per ticket at the door.

The Vera Bradley Bingo was hosted as a fundraiser to raise money for two local senior centers: Bonner Senior Center in Portage and Maria Reiner Center in Hobart. All of the money collected from admission and raffle tickets was donated to the centers.

“Vera Bradley Bingo is a great event to hold today,” said Danielle Balek, Senior Lifestyle Counselor at Rittenhouse Village. “Local businesses donate Vera Bradley bags full of items for the winners to take home, and all of the funds go to benefit local senior centers.”

Sponsors for the event purchased Vera Bradley purses and wallets full of small gift items for the winners of Bingo. Each sponsor was able to deliver a short commercial about their business during the breaks of the Bingo games in return. There were 20 games of Bingo for the 20 purses/wallets available.

“We sponsored the Vera Bradley Bingo event today because we wanted to expose ourselves to a different part of the community that may not know about us but who would also benefit from our product,” said Benjamin Cirino, Owner of Vital Nutrition in Portage. “Everybody deserves the right to be healthy and have healthy options available. There are a lot of unhealthy options everywhere, so it is good to know about your healthier options, which is why it is important for us to sponsor events and be involved within the community.”

According to their website, Vital Nutrition in Portage, IN is the area's premier nutrition store serving Porter and Lake counties and surrounding areas since 2016. They specialize in meal replacement shakes and offer weight loss consulting, nutrition products, nutrition consulting and much more. Other sponsors for the event included: Center for Hospice Care, Dunes Comfort Keepers, Comfort Care, Sunrise Home Health, Elite Cruises & Vacations, FirstLight Home Care, Harbor Light Hospice, Providence Home Health, First Midwest, Priority Rehab, and Life Care Center of Valparaiso.

Bingo players had the chance to win at 20 games of Bingo while they enjoyed refreshments and 50/50 raffle drawings. The Vera Bradley Bingo event was a wonderful, warm way to enjoy a Saturday afternoon with friends and family.
