Meals on Wheels offers volunteer opportunities delivering meals in your own community Monday through Friday. Why not join us for our July orientation/training on Tuesday, July 14, at 10:00am? There is nothing more rewarding than knowing you are making a difference in someone’s life. We are currently recruiting drivers/delivery volunteers in the Miller and Hammond communities. If unable to attend Tuesday another session is scheduled for Thursday, July 23 at 1:00 p.m. You could help one of your neighbors stay in their own homes by volunteering to help deliver meals.
Each day, volunteers assist in the delivery of more than 1,200 meals throughout Lake County. According to Joan Vith, Volunteer Manager, “volunteers are our greatest resource. We are recruiting new volunteers in Miller and Hammond. We have 8 routes in Hammond and Miller can be a large route of more than 15 clients. We need new volunteers to help replace those who are retiring.”
Interested candidates are invited to attend Volunteer Orientation/Training at the Meals on Wheels Community Room, 8446 Virginia Street in Merrillville. The session lasts a little more than an hour. Applicants will have an opportunity to tour the facility and ask questions about Meals on Wheels and the different volunteer opportunities we have available.
