Zeta Mu Celebrates Tri Kappa Week by Honoring Portage Fire Department

For Tri Kappa members statewide, performing random acts of kindness is what Tri Kappa Week (Feb. 19-25) is all about. This year, the Portage Zeta Mu Chapter of Tri Kappa chose to shower with kindness the dedicated and deserving firefighters of Portage's Fire Department.

The event took place on Sunday, Feb. 19th, at 1:00 pm, with Zeta Mu ladies delivering to Fire Station No. 3 on Central Avenue a large "Thank You" tub, filled with various snacks and other goodies for the firefighters to enjoy. Firemen Aaron Wirth, Kevin DeYoung, Nate Bryan, Randy Wilkening, and Bill Swetz were on hand to accept the appreciation gift and afterwards treated the attending Tri Kappa members-- Shellie Kramer, Sandy Shrader, and Betsy Shrader-- to a tour of the new state-of-the-art fire station.

"'Kindness doesn't cost a thing!' is the theme for this year's Tri Kappa Week," explained Zeta Mu's Shellie Kramer. " It does not have to be material things. So everyone can afford to do someone a kindness--this week and hopefully beyond! Kind words and hugs count for a lot, too! Kindness starts in the heart and can even be something as simple as a smile!"
