Event Information

This event has expired.

The City of Crown Point will celebrate Arbor Day with a ceremonial tree planting and its annual Spring Clean-Up.

Mayor Pete Land and City staff will hold a ceremonial tree planting at 2 p.m. Friday, April 26, at the Historic Maplewood Cemetery, near the Wells Street entrance.

The City of Crown Point has been a proud Tree City USA Community for 21 years and is one of 9 municipalities recognized as a Tree City community in Lake, Porter and LaPorte counties.

City staff and volunteers will convene for the City’s fourth annual Spring Clean-up Day from 3-5 p.m. Friday, April 26, at the Crown Point Sportsplex, located at 1313 E. North St. Gloves, garbage bags and grabbers will be provided.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to clean up debris or help rake in mulch at the Sportsplex and Solon Robinson Park. Participants should dress in comfortable clothing and shoes they don’t mind getting dirty.

Evan’s Tree Care will hand out free tree saplings while supplies last.

Last year, the City had approximately 30 participants at its third Spring Clean-up Day. Volunteers collected dozens of industrial-size garbage bags of trash across the City, including, but not limited to, downtown, parks, behind businesses and the side of well traveled roads.

Those interested in volunteering should contact Spring Clean-up Day Coordinator Heather Evans at hevans@crownpoint.in.gov.
