Heart & Vascular Symposium

Event Information

This event has expired.

Heart disease has been the leading cause of death in the United States for more than 70 years. Throughout the decades, the medical community has seen these deaths decline through new technology, advanced treatment and education.

Community Healthcare System continues its fight against heart and cardiovascular disease by hosting a free event to educate Northwest Indiana and Chicago-area residents about the signs, symptoms, treatments and prevention of this No. 1 killer.

Experts in cardiology and cardiovascular care invite the public to the Heart & Vascular Symposium from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2 at The Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster. The event also will include a health fair featuring blood pressure checks, rhythm detection, free lab work (fasting required) and flu vaccines. Refreshments will be served.

Symposium times, topics and speakers include:

  • 10 a.m.: “Peripheral Venous Disease” by Dean Ferrera, DO, interventional cardiology
  • 10:30 a.m.: “Atrial Fibrillation” by Pratik Patel, MD, cardiology, electrophysiology
