Mayor Thomas M. McDermott Jr., The City of Hammond, and the Juneteenth Committee invite the public to attend an event to commemorate the emancipation of those who were enslaved in the United States held on Sunday, June 18th, 2023. The Juneteenth celebration will begin with a small program at 2pm, taking place at Freedom Plaza, located at Tapper Avenue and Highland Street. After the dedication, please join us on Columbia Avenue at the other end of the park for fun, food, music, giveaways, and more.
