The Read Ride Bicycle Tour

Event Information

The Izaak Walton League of America Porter County Chapter will hold The Read Ride bicycle tour on Saturday, Sept 28. 

Cyclists may register, park their cars and fill bike tires with Leo's Mobile Bike Service at Discovery Charter School (800 Canonie, Porter) at 9am. 

 A suggested $10 donation/biker would be used toward PCC's youth conservation educational programs.

This tour's first stop at 10am will be at the National Park's Read House where a special presentation in honor of the memory of 

Dunes conservationist, Charlotte Read will be held. Representatives of the NPS, PCC, Save the Dunes and Shirley Heinze

Land Trust will be there to celebrate the life-long effort of Charlotte and Herb Read to preserve the Dunes and its surrounding

features. Participants will get to see inside the house too before setting off on a 22 mile round-trip journey to PCC's Carol Cook Wetland Overlook.

At the overlook, bikers may rest, have lunch with Discovery Trackers 4-H Club and meet a live owl with Humane Indiana Wildlife before making
