MCHS Compressed Air Academy to receive state “Earn and Learn” Certification

Michigan City, IN – Representatives of Indiana’s Department of Workforce Development will visit the Compressed Air Academy at Michigan City High School on Tuesday, February 4 to recognize it as a State “Earn and Learn” (SEAL) program. SEAL certification is granted to high schools and/or employers that have developed comprehensive work-based learning programs with education and industry partners.

Michigan City High School’s Compressed Air Academy is the first of its kind in the nation; it was developed in 2018 to address regional workforce needs through a partnership involving the high school, the Economic Development Corporation of Michigan City, Sullair, Boss Industries, Dekker Vacuum Technologies, Sullivan-Palatek, and Vanair. The Academy, now in its first full year, provides students with an opportunity to earn a Certified Production Technician certification, giving them industry-specific credentials and work experience.
