Northwest Indiana Commuter Transportation District's (NICTD) double tracking project on the South Shore Line is the result of a years-long collaborative endeavor aimed at extending the South Shore Line’s double track area that now ends at Gary, Indiana, all the way to Michigan City, Indiana.
