The Recycling and Waste Reduction District of Porter County is accepting online registration for exhibitors to participate in the 2013 Northwest Indiana Earth Day Celebration on April 20. The largest free public environmental event in Northwest Indiana, the Earth Day Celebration draws visitors who are concerned about the environment and interested in learning more about how they can reduce their impact on the planet. Exhibitors sought include organizations and businesses throughout Northwest Indiana and beyond that can provide environmental awareness, services and products to attendees and inspire visitors to become more environmentally-conscious.
Prospective exhibitors can register to participate on the district’s website, www.ItMeansTheWorld.org.
Held in two buildings at the Porter County Expo Center in Valparaiso last year, the Northwest Indiana Earth Day Celebration will expand to three buildings in 2013. The event attracted more than 4,500 attendees in 2012, the largest attendance in the event’s seven-year history. Early registrants will enjoy the maximum advertising benefits of the event.
“Every year, our goal is to make this event better and attract more people who can take away something that they have learned to help the environment,” said Therese Davis, executive director of the district. “Unfortunately, last year we had to turn away a number of potential, last-minute exhibitors due to space constraints. We hope the additional building will allow all exhibitors to participate and make the 2013 celebration the most exciting and interesting event ever!”
Exhibitors will again have the opportunity to set up the day before the event, which was never an option when the celebration was outdoors. Exhibitors will also have the options of expanding their booths, connecting to electricity and advertising themselves on the bingo card given to all attendees.
“The bingo card is a game for celebration attendees to win something big,” said Davis. “Last year, guests who participated in bingo had a chance to win a Schwinn bicycle. In order to enter the drawing, the attendees must visit all exhibitors listed on the card. It drives traffic to exhibits and was a real hit last year.”
The district also seeks Earth Day event co-sponsors. For more information, call Donna, 219-465-3819.
