Mayor Pete Land swore in the newest Crown Point public safety official during a Wednesday, Jan. 24, Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.
Firefighter/Paramedic Kevin LaDuke, badge No. 83, began his time in the fire service as a teenager volunteering with the Lakes of the Four Seasons Fire Department.
In 2009, LaDuke began his full-time career with the Chesterton Fire Department. He joined the St. John Fire Department in 2012. He has served as a part-time paramedic with the Crown Point Fire Department for nearly 15 years.
LaDuke is a 2001 graduate of Crown Point High School. He is a 2009 alumnus of Valparaiso University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in biology.
“The City of Crown Point, its citizens and our department are both excited and lucky that Kevin has chosen Crown Point as his home,” Crown Point Fire Chief Mark Baumgardner Jr. said.
He is assigned to Turn 2 under the supervision of Battalion Chief Tim Tully. LaDuke is the 11th firefighter hired since 2023 and the 15th firefighter hired under Mayor Land.
