The Lake County Solid Waste Management District's Green Team will take the stage at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20, to provide games and challenges for attendees of the 2013 Northwest Indiana Earth Day Celebration. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Porter County Expo Center, 215 E. Division Road, Valparaiso.
The award-winning, high energy group was a recent addition to the stage lineup. The Green Team is known for their presentations and assemblies throughout schools in Lake County.
“This is the first time the Green Team will appear at the Northwest Indiana Earth Day Celebration,” said Donna Stuckert, community education coordinator for the Recycling and Waste Reduction District of Porter County. “We are tickled that the team’s knowledge and excitement will be experienced by attendees this year.”
Besides the Lake County’s Green Team stage show, staff members from the LaPorte County Solid Waste District will exhibit at the event to help educate visitors on waste reduction.
“We have very good working relationships with our neighboring solid waste districts,” Stuckert said. “The Northwest Indiana Earth Day Celebration is attended by more than Porter County residents, as it has become a regional event. We really appreciate Lake and LaPorte Counties’ cooperation in marking the 2013 Earth Day and helping to spread an environmental message.”
The Northwest Indiana Earth Day Celebration connects attendees with environmental organizations, exhibitors, businesses and vendors that engage them in fun and entertaining ways so they can learn about living greener and becoming more environmentally-conscious.
