NW Indiana ER & Hospital gives community clean bill of fun with Easter Egg Hunt 2024

With Easter taking place in just over two weeks, NW Indiana ER & Hospital hosted an egg-cellent event for the community to come together and have a fun Saturday. The event was a prime example of how they care for the community. Over a hundred children and their families came out to hunt for eggs across the Hammond site.

“We love to do things for this area,” said Amanda Jensen, chief nursing officer at NW Indiana ER & Hospital. "It is fun for kids, and it is fun for parents. It makes it very easy and safe for people to come see an Easter Bunny.”

Hanging out at the party was an Easter Bunny. Families got to take photos with the bunny before hunting for eggs.

“I am glad that they put it on today, and that I could come out and take my son to a fun day,” said Mary Elkin, who attended the event with her son. “It is good to get out for a little while.”

Children of all ages were welcomed, and for some, it was their very first Easter egg hunt. Clinton and Kayla Wenton brought their child out for their first Easter egg hunt. With the clinic opening in 2020, it was also NW Indiana ER & Hospital’s first Easter egg hunt.

“It definitely helps them get their name out there,” said Wenton. “There's a lot of individual clinics throughout the area, so doing extra projects with the community definitely helps.”

Saturday’s event was the first time coming to NW Indiana ER & Hospital for several of the attendees like the Wentons and Elkins. It was an opportunity for them to experience firsthand the compassion and care that NW Indiana ER & Hospital provides.

"The majority of the people that actually get to learn about us already know us,” said Jensen. “It's word of mouth so they know that we are an emergency room where they can feel free to bring their kids and loved ones in and take care of them.”

It was obvious Saturday because of the care that NW Indiana ER & Hospital put into creating a fun experience for the community. The micro-hospital may still be new, but the staff goes above and beyond for the needs of the community.

“We take care of anybody from infant to adult,” said Jensen. “We are free-standing, and we do concierge service. Our doctors go above and beyond to make sure that all the patient's needs are being met.”

NW Indiana ER & Hospital’s location in addition to providing great care offers patients a calmer and quicker emergency room right off Interstate 80.
