La Stitch is located at the corner of Lincolnway and Monroe in Downtown La Porte. The space, which is decorated with string lights hung from one side of the street to the other, was created to provide a new and unique place to host City events and bring the community together.
The meaning of the name “La Stitch” is two-fold. A “stitch” is a city planning term used to designate a central street or common area within a community. The name is also reflective of our goal for the space, which is to “stitch” our community together through food, music and conversation.
We are kicking off our first event, Friday Night Live @ La Stitch, on Friday, August 14. From 6-10 p.m., that section of Monroe will be shut down to car traffic for residents to enjoy live music under the lights. Phone numbers of local restaurants will be posted for individuals who would like to order takeout, and a food truck will also be present.
This event is family and pet friendly. Social distancing will be encouraged, and hand and surface sanitizer will be available.
